The most Northern Tip of mainland Australia is the Northern Peninsula and Bamaga. Very friendly locals that also hosted us for dinner at the Fishermans Club. Best burger and fish and chips we have had so far. On the drive back from the Northern Peninsula our driver wanted to show us a World War Plane that crashed. Whilst nice to see historical aircraft, I think my passengers may been less keen to see a crashed plane. We departed mainland and flew into Horn Island followed by Sea Ferry to Thursday Island and bus tour around.
A lot of history thru the Torres Straits and a massive effort of 30 men took 2 years to hand dig and build the Green Hills Fort.
From the Islands we pass thru Quarantine checks and I need to use the cabins sprays that many of us remember from long ago. Back to Mainland Australia for more sight seeing around Cairns and surrounds before we go to another Island soon.
