Atherton Tablelands

We flew into Mareeba, locked up the aircraft for 6 days, hired a car and began exploring the beautiful Atherton Tablelands.

About 1 hour drive from Cairns Airport for those using normal flights.

Full of rich colours, from the great soils to the abundance of lush landscapes, farms, forests, and waterfalls. The area has QLD’s highest roads and towns and lot’s of history. We stayed in the middle of most sites in a town called Yunguburra.

We visited: Lake Barrine and Lake Eucham formed from volcanic craters and fed from the water table to keep them clean and full of water.

We had a nice picnic at Lake Eucham, walked to various waterfalls at Malanda and surrounds. Also found time to visit Narada Tea farm.

We visited the Avenue of Honour to remember those that served and lost their lives whilst serving Australia.

We visited Lake Tinaroo Dam and the Lake itself.

We visited the curtain fig and much more. gallery of pics to come soon.
